Shaggy is a dog owned by Barney Gumble.
History
After Homer told his friends a story about Bart digging a hole, Moe complained that it was the stupidest story he'd ever heard. He then went on to say that he was sick of all his patrons and their "shaggy dog stories." At that point, Barney told Shaggy that he should leave. Shaggy angrily left the bar, and Barney complained to Moe that now he had to "go home to that."
