The Monster Island
History
Lisa imagined a possible future in which her life was ruined by a failing grade in gym class. In this scenario, she was publicly disqualified from becoming President of the United States after it was revealed that she had once received an F in physical education. As punishment, she was sentenced to a lifetime of exile on “Monster Island,” a place presented as a terrifying destination filled with dangerous creatures. A guard reassured her that it was “just a name,” revealing that Monster Island was actually a peninsula, although it was still shown to be overrun with fire-breathing monsters, emphasizing the irony and absurdity of the punishment.
Behind the Laughter
[Lisa]] pictures herself being sent to Monster Island, the island with creatures from the 1969 Japanese film All Monsters Attack. Monsters such as Gamera, Rodan, and Mothra are seen chasing an adult Lisa.
