Cultural references

• The plot of the episode is a reference to the recent Tipflation.
• Lisa says that Homer and Marge were "punking" them, and Bart says that they are getting "funk'd", a reference to the reality TV series Punk'd.
• During the check-ups at the Springfield Medical Plaza, the song "Price Tag" by Jessie J and B.o.B plays.
• Marge got a full back tattoo honoring Timothée Chalamet removed.
• The way Maggie puts on the sunglasses is a reference to the CSI: Crime Scene Investigation spin-off CSI: Miami and the Horatio Caine "sunglasses moments" cold opens in the show and the popular meme associated with it.
  • "Won't Get Fooled Again" by The Who, the theme song of CSI: Miami, plays when Maggie puts on her sunglasses.
