Big Solar was a businessman who represented the Big Solar of which he is named after. He went to college with Big Tobacco.
Daylight Saving Crisis in Springfield
When Springfield successfully passed a law stating that Daylight saving time was to be abolished. Big Solar group did not like daylight saving time being messed with and so sent Big Solar to get the law changed back. However, by that time in the year Mayor Quimby had already changed and repelled the maximum amount of laws it is possible for him to in a year. When the town reverted back to following Daylight Saving Time, Big Solar used Springfield as a story to tell school children to warn them against messing with the time. It was exaggerated however, with the town on fire and Vampires taking over.
