Crime Family Practice is a Simpsons Comics story first printed in Simpsons Comics #68.

Synopsis[edit]

After being a guest on KBBL, Dr. Nick is approached by Fat Tony to become the doctor for the Springfield Mafia.

Plot[edit]

Dr. Nick arrives at KBBL Radio to be a guest on the KBBL radio show. He takes callers looking for medical advice, the first of whom is Barney Gumble. Barney tells Dr. Nick that he hasn't burped in five hours and asks if he's dying. Dr. Nick says that he is and that Barney should go to his clinic on Tuesday at noon. Barney burps before telling Dr. Nick he'll be there. Dr. Nick then says that his incredibly high fee will make Barney forget his certain death, before realizing he said that on air. The co-host of the segment tries to make a remark about burping and sneezing at the same time, but Dr. Nick quickly moves on to the next caller. An hour later, Dr. Nick is finished with the show and says that they'll see him again the next time his appointment book looks skinny.

As he leaves the station, he is approached by Fat Tony and invited into the back of his car. Fat Tony tells the doctor that he's in need of a new "family" doctor and takes Dr. Nick to look after his men. First, Legs comes into Dr. Nick's office with cement shoes, which he wants removed. Next, Louie has a swollen hand after he claims it got shut in an especially heavy door. Eventually, Fat Tony comes in with several police dogs biting him. He tells Dr. Nick to do something about it, and Nick tries to remember his time in medical school to find a solution. He remembers drinking and playing golf before he remembers getting a passing D grade on a test, with his classmate saying that it's a dog-eat-dog world. This gives Dr. Nick an idea, and he uses hot dogs to distract the dogs before he bandages up the mobster. Fat Tony thanks Dr. Nick but asks what will happen when the dogs finish off the hot dogs. The dogs then attack Dr. Nick, with him being happy because he'll be able to sue the police and get his medical license back.
