The Simpsons Commemorative Stamps were released in the USA on May 7, 2009 (unveiled on April 9) and was on sale to the 2010. A stamp had a value of ₵44 and a set of twenty stamps cost $8.80. Featuring Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie, the stamps were illustrated by series creator Matt Groening and marked the first time a television series still in prime-time production was the sole subject of a U.S. stamp set. One billion stamps were printed, and the first-day-of-issue ceremony was held at Twentieth Century Fox Studios in Los Angeles, attended by Groening, executive producer James L. Brooks, and several members of the show's voice cast.
