History[edit]

The Springfield advertisement for the new statue of Jebediah Springfield showed iconic US places such as the Washington Monument seen from the Capitol (Washington, D.C.), Lincoln Memorial (Washington, D.C.), the Liberty Bell (Philadelphia), Tomb of the Unknown Soldier (Arlington), and Mount Rushmore (South Dakota).[1]

A young boy in Queens, New York, who unsuccessfully competed in Reading Digest's Patriots of Tomorrow Essay Contest read aloud his cliche-ridden essay Ding, Dong (The Sounds of the Liberty Bell). The Liberty Bell was also seen on a map of the United States as a symbol for Pennsylvania.[2]

The Liberty Bell was among the symbols used in Scratch 'n' Win scratch tickets sold at Kwik-E-Mart.[3][4]

Bart was excited to visit Philadelphia because he could crack the other side of the Liberty Bell to "finish the job." The H.O.A.G.I.E. Men had a picture of the Liberty Bell on the "simple diagram" they presented to Homer.[5]
