Cultural references[edit]
- The title of the episode is a reference to the Academy Award-nominated 2010 comedy-drama film The Kids Are All Right, directed by Lisa Cholodenko. This was also referenced with the title of the season 25 episode "The Kid Is All Right".
- During the title screen gag, Professor Frink is wearing an armored flying suit like Iron Man from Marvel.
- At Moe's, the beverage Moe et Chandon is a reference to Moët & Chandon.
- When Homer finds an old undeveloped film, Carl tells him that all photo developing stores are now either knocked down or turned into deer blinds:

- In the flashback in Moe's Tavern, there's a picture of Homer, Lenny, Carl and Barney. In the picture, Homer is bald, despite having hair in the flashback and not being bald until years later.
- Bart hits Lisa with the Phonic Frog in a flashback before Maggie's birth, but the family was send the Phonic Frog by Mrs. Wickerbottom's Pre-Nursery School specifically for Maggie. ("Smart and Smarter")
