MacGyver is an American adventure television series, produced in the United States and Canada, about the laid-back, extremely resourceful secret agent MacGyver, played by Richard Dean Anderson. It ran for seven seasons from September 29, 1985 to May 21, 1992 on the ABC network. 139 fifty-minute-long episodes were produced, including three with two parts. Additionally, two made-for-television movies were produced in 1994.
In The Simpsons
MacGyver is the favorite series of Patty and Selma, who watch the show religiously and idolize both MacGyver and Richard Dean Anderson. They rarely miss episodes, and on one occasion kidnapped Anderson, who later grew to like his captors and started continually pulling MacGyver-esque escapes. ("Kiss Kiss Bang Bangalore")
