Cultural references
- The name of this episode refers to Henny Youngman's line, "Take my life, please". This line is also referred to by the Simpsons episodes "Take My Wife, Sleaze" and "Take My Life, Please". This joke was also mentioned in Little Big Girl, were Bart says "Take my wife, Please. Hey, I finaly get that joke!".
- At the video store, Homer watches Buttercups of Autumn, a parody of the film The Whales of August.
- Homer dances to the Mexican Hat song.
- The rap Homer does in his car before driving it off the pier comes from the Chaka Kahn song "I Feel for You".
- While walking to work, Homer runs a stick across a fence, and then across George Wilson's face. Mr. Wilson was portrayed by Walter Matthau in the 1993 film, Dennis the Menace.
- "I Love to Walk" contains elements of "Talk to the Animals" from the movie Doctor Dolittle.
