"See Homer Run" is the sixth episode of the seventeenth season. It originally aired November 20, 2005. It was written by Stephanie Gillis and directed by Nancy Kruse.
Homer becomes the Springfield Elementary School's "safety salamander" to make an amend to stop Lisa's frustrations against men. After he saves many drivers from a multiple car crash, Homer runs for mayor.
The family goes to the Springfield Mall to buy a Father's Day gift for Homer. He is impressed by Bart's gift – a Leather Buddy multi-function knife. But Lisa's gift, a book she created, with caricatures of herself and Homer as unicorns, doesn't go over so well.
