The Yeti is the father of Moe Szyslak who lives on Mt. Everest.
History
Moe said that his dad was a circus freak, but his mother didn't remember which one.[1]
The yeti found the flag that a man who climbed Everest was carrying and gave it to his son, Moe Szyslak.[2]

In the real world, the Yeti is an ape-like cryptid (similar to Bigfoot) that is reputed to live in the Himalayas.
