Temperance Barrow is the main character in the romance novel The Harpooned Heart by Marge Simpson. She is modeled after Marge.
In the story, Temperance gets tired of her brutish, neglectful husband Captain Mordecai (modeled after Homer) and falls for the handsome and sensitive Cyrus Manly, who is modeled after Ned Flanders.
