- The plot and cover are a parody of The Amazing Spider-Man #50 - Spider-Man No More!
- Homer tells Bart to turn the TV back on because the spin-off of My Mother the Car is about to start.
- Bart thinks "Did I forget that with a great costume comes great responsibility?", a reference to the phrase "with great power comes great responsibility" from Spider-Man comics.
- The Bartman Cave is a parody of the Batcave from DC Comics. It has a dinosaur doll and an oversized no. 2 pencil in it, referencing the memorabilia in the Batcave.
- Lidia's Secret is a parody of Victoria's Secret.
