While the club participate in hang gliding over the tire fire "Extreme TV" offers to put them on the show and so the whole club are set to take part in a mass skydive where they will each have a part of a parachute and construct it in mid-air. However the singles soon get partners who are attracted to the "lonely dangerous guy" lifestyle. Lisa realizes that this new love may ruin their chances of constructing the parachute and so Bart & Lisa sets out to warn them but they arrive to late. All the members forgot their parachute pieces and they all fell to their death, with the shockwave forcing California to separate from the USA and sink.

You'd Better Sloth Around! is a Simpsons Comics story first printed in Simpsons Comics #129.

Synopsis[edit]

Homer purchases a mobility scooter to make his life easier and gets more benefits from people thinking that he's disabled. However, Lisa is worried about the morals and ethics of Homer's laziness.

Plot[edit]

It is nearly midnight, and Homer makes himself a large sandwich for a late-night snack. Marge catches him before he eats it and tells him that he shouldn't have a heavy meal right before bedtime. She doesn't get through to him, though, so she decides to just let him do what he wants. Homer starts to feel guilty and then imagines angel and devil versions of himself appearing on his shoulders. As they try to convince Homer to either eat the sandwich or not eat it, Homer decides to eat the angel before he eats the sandwich. Later, Homer struggles to sleep and goes downstairs to sleep on the couch. However, he still can't sleep, so he turns on the television, where Troy McClure is advertising the Sloth-Around mobility scooter. Homer imagines his guardian angel again, who quits because he can't convince Homer not to do something stupid. Homer then orders the scooter.

A couple of days later, Marge and the kids are getting ready to eat breakfast, but Homer hasn't shown up yet. Homer then drives into the kitchen on his new scooter, which Marge and Lisa are annoyed about. Lisa is worried about the morals and ethics of using a mobility scooter meant for the handicapped, and Marge is annoyed about Homer spending so much on it. Despite their objections, Homer drives off to work. On the way, Homer stops at the Kwik-E-Mart. When Apu sees Homer on a mobility scooter, he assumes that Homer's handicapped now and gives him some free crullers.

When Homer gets to work, Lenny and Carl question him about his accident, thinking that he's disabled now. Mr. Burns and Smithers are watching Homer on the security cameras. Thinking that Homer is disabled, Mr. Burns is annoyed because if Homer gets injured at work, it could open up a lawsuit against him. He tells Smithers to get Homer off the premises immediately. Burns and Smithers go to tell Homer that he can go home for the rest of the day, with full pay. As Homer leaves, he drives toward some stairs. Burns tells Smithers to do something, and Smithers dives onto the stairs so Homer can use his body as a ramp. After work, Homer goes to Moe's Tavern. Moe, thinking that Homer has issues with his lower body, offers his help to Marge if she needs help in the romance department. This annoys Homer until Moe offers him a free beer. When Moe points out that Homer isn't disabled, he's just lazy, Homer gets angry and leaves the bar with his beer, telling Moe that he'll drink at home from now on. Homer arrives back home and steals the horn from Lisa's bicycle before he enters the house. He tells the family about his great day, which angers Lisa because Homer's using his mobility scooter to swindle people out of free stuff. Lisa tells Homer that karma will catch up with him soon before she storms off.

The following morning, Homer drives around town and is caught speeding by the police. They start to chase Homer, but give up when he outspeeds them. Not realizing they gave up, Homer escapes into the Springfield Mall and hides in the disabled stall of the toilets, cutting in front of Dan, who was about to enter the stall. When Dan questions how long Homer will be there, Homer peeks over the top of the stall and tells him that he'll be in there until it's safe. This causes Dan to realize that Homer isn't really handicapped, and he becomes angry. His shouting causes several other disabled men to come into the toilets, but when Homer drives out of the stall, they think that he is handicapped. However, Homer stands up to wash his hands, which causes the disabled men to all become angry at him and chase him. Homer drives through the mall and into the parking garage, going up the ramps, with the handicapped men following. The horn falls off his scooter and into Dan's path, causing Dan's wheelchair to trip over it and sending Dan over the edge. Homer's conscience angel and devil appear to him again, and Homer decides to do the right thing and go back to save Dan. As Dan thanks Homer, the Sloth-Around rolls down the ramp and knocks Homer off the edge of the garage.

Soon after, Homer is wheelchair-bound after falling into a dumpster and breaking his leg. Lisa tells him that she warned him that it would end with karma catching up to him. Homer then sees a handicapped ramp and tells Lisa to take him up it.
