Synopsis[edit]

After Grampa and Moe convince Macedonian baseball player Aeropos Walkov to join the Springfield Isotopes, the two of them manage him. But with all the gambling ads and Moe selling out, Walkov ends up involved in a gambling scandal.

Plot[edit]

In 1944, "Old Tut" and Abraham Simpson watch baseball together, and "Old Tut" tells him that Abe will watch baseball with his grandson one day. It never happens, so he decides to call Bart, who informs him that if he was going to watch men in tight pants barely moving, he would just watch Homer, as Homer struggles with his pants at the moment. Grampa then hears a voice commenting on the game and sees Moe on another bench watching the game. He joins him and they start picking on the New York Yankees team members. They enjoy each other's company so much that they become friends and exchange phone numbers.

After enjoying more games together (which scares Homer off from Moe's Tavern), it is announced on TV that Aeropos Walkov is coming to America to play. Moe proposes making a video to appeal to him to join the Springfield Isotopes. Walkov receives multiple emails from teams that do not convince him with their videos, before receiving Moe and Grampa's video in a package through the mail. Seeing the love they put into making the video, and the tire fire identical to the one he has next to his home, he agrees. After being welcomed in town, the first match is set, and Bart goes with Grampa to the game, making him happy. Moe promises Bart he will be able to meet Walkov after the match.

After the victory, however, Moe immediately leaves on the bus with Walkov, denying Bart the chance to meet him. In the next match, Grampa notices how the matches become big commercials, full of sponsorships. His seat in Sector J is moved all the way above the clouds in height, and the food has changed. He goes to talk to Moe, and they get into an argument. Moe then finds out that Walkov started betting thanks to all the betting commercials. Moe goes to Grampa to ask for help, which he denies, as Moe cares only about the money and not about baseball. However, when Grampa gets home, he discovers that Bart is gambling too.

At the press conference, Moe fakes his translations to hide the fact that Walkov is crying over the confession about betting, until Grampa arrives with Bart asking Walkov about betting. Moe realizes what he has done and confesses, accusing the networks of creating this mess, but in the end, the investigation condemns Moe. In the end, Walkov signs a contract with the newly renamed San Francisco Draft-Pigs, while Bart is still gambling but at least he is not losing.

Production[edit]

Nevena Neskoska, composer of "You", the entry from North Macedonia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020, was the Macedonian consultant for this episode.[1][2]

Reception[edit]

Hank Azaria was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance in the 77th Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards for voicing Moe Szyslak. However, he lost to Julie Andrews for Bridgerton.[3]
