Michigan is one of the 50 states in the US. Its capital city is Lansing.

History[edit]

Homer was watching a football game on Thanksgiving at the Silverdome in Pontiac, Michigan.[1]

The Simpsons traveled to Detroit to visit Homer's long-lost half-brother, Herb Powell.[2]

The boxes made at Springfield's Box Factory were assembled in Flint.[3]

After getting run out of Florida, the Simpson family was trying to decide where to go for their next vacation. They were looking at a map of the US that had most of the states crossed out, which were apparently all the states that the Simpsons were no longer allowed to enter.[4]

When Lisa was searching the attic for her family tree school project, she came across a Bicentennial edition of Reader's Digest. One of the stories in the issue was "Flint, Michigan: City of Tomorrow."[5]

Bode Wright used to live and work in Traverse City, Michigan.[6][7]

In the future, Michigan was under sharia law, and Christmas was not observed in the state. Allergy sufferer Milhouse, who was allergic to many Christmas-related things, had spent more than one Christmas in Michigan in order to get relief from his allergies. Every time he visited, though, he was made to wear a burqa, particularly at the University of Michigan.[8]

Trivia[edit]

  • In Michigan a woman's hair is entirely owned by her husband.[9]
