The Gateway Arch is a monument in St. Louis, Missouri.

History

In the opening sequence of Thicker than Waters, the Waters family was seen flying a kite which got caught at the top of the arch.[1]

Lisa, as Edith, sang the line "And St. Louis has its arch to the West." when singing about symbols of towns in the song "The Mini Moose". An ancestor of Ned Flanders questioned it, and Lisa realized that it hadn't been built yet, then said it was coming.[2]

Behind the Laughter

  • In real life, the Gateway Arch is over 600 feet tall, larger than it appears to be in Thicker than Waters.
