Thailand (formerly Siam) is a country in Asia. Its capital is Bangkok.

History[edit]

Thailand, specifically Bangkok, is seen on Bart's globe.[1]

While at the Springfield Post Office, Charles Montgomery Burns attempted to mail a letter to the Prussian consulate in Siam by aeromail and asked whether he was too late for the "4:30 autogyro." A postal clerk remarked that the manual did not list Prussia, Siam, or autogyro, suggesting that Burns was using obsolete names and methods.[2]

While taking care of Mr. Burns' mansion, Homer makes a call to Thailand, at Burns' expense.[3]

Pictures of Thailand can be seen in the Thai restaurant.[4]

Behind the Laughter[edit]

The country's name was changed from "Siam" to "Thailand" in 1939.
