The Simpsons Supporters Suggestion Spin Cycle is a Simpsons Comics story first printed in Simpsons Comics #34.
Synopsis
- Three readers of Simpsons Comics submit ideas that alter a comic story about Bart getting punished by Principal Skinner.
Plot
The editor explains that Simpsons Comics receives many letters from fans, so they took a story and used reader feedback to alter it. First, they show an original comic without feedback.
Bart is in Principal Skinner's office, where Skinner and Willie are confronting him. Skinner says that Bart made Willie cry, but Willie says that it's the homemade contact lenses he's using that are causing him to cry. Skinner tells Willie to go to an optometrist, but Willie says that he can't afford that because Skinner won't give him a raise. While they're arguing, Bart tries to quietly leave, but Homer comes into the office as Skinner had called him. Homer tells Skinner that he'll take care of Bart, then takes Bart to Krusty Burger because a new burger is making its debut there.
The editor shows off a letter from an offended reader, who used the words "bites", "cake", and "cream" in their letter. The next variation of the story has Bart once again in Skinner's office. However, Skinner, Willie, and Bart are all hungry. Homer then enters the office, but he's too hungry to even drive. Bart offers everyone Krustycakes to eat and the comic turns into an ad for the snack cakes.
The next reader complains about the comics becoming too highbrow and wants something more child-oriented. In this story, the characters are designed like Dr. Seuss characters. While Bart and Skinner rhyme their sentences, Willie refuses to play along and tries to recite a dirty limerick instead. However, Skinner cuts him off, saying that it's a children's story. Homer then enters the office and takes Bart to "teach him thing one and maybe thing two." They then go home and eat a large meal together.
The last letter is from a reader with attention deficit disorder. This story has all four people in Homer's car eating burgers. Homer says that he and Bart completely fooled Skinner and Willie, until Bart lets Homer know that he just told them the plan, causing Homer to exclaim "D'oh!"
