The Sunblocker s a sun-blocking machine created by Mr. Burns.
History
Mr. Burns expanded his energy operations in Springfield through aggressive oil extraction, which disrupted local resources and caused widespread concern in the town. He then authorized the construction of a large device designed to block out the sun, intending to create permanent darkness and increase dependence on electricity from his nuclear power plant. Once activated, the machine plunged Springfield into artificial night, causing immediate chaos and economic disruption. As conditions worsened and tensions escalated between Burns and the townspeople, the situation ultimately ended in a violent confrontation in which Burns was shot.[1]
Following the crisis, a group of residents—including Homer, Moe, Lenny, Carl, Otto, Snake, Bumblebee Man, Groundskeeper Willie, Krusty the Clown, and Principal Skinner—organized a coordinated effort to dismantle the sun-blocking machine. The device was physically pulled apart using vehicles and ropes in a mass action at the site. Once the structure was successfully destroyed, it broke loose and rolled down the hillside, ultimately crashing into Shelbyville.[2]
