- He thinks he might be the last man on earth, "like the Fresh Prince", a reference to Will Smith in I Am Legend and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
- He laments, "That hot chick in the cell phone ads. Oh, why did she have to die?", referring to T-Mobile spokeswoman Carly Foulkes.
Trivia
- Homer thinks he's travelled to the following times:
- The Renaissance
- The American Civil War
- Millions of years ago, during the time of the dinosaurs
- A post-apocalyptic future
Continuity
- Homer time-jumps for real (albeit in a non-canon setting) in the "Time and Punishment" segment of "Treehouse of Horror V".
