Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship that helps people recover from alcoholism through mutual support and a structured program.
History
After being arrested for drunk driving, Homer Simpson was ordered by the court to attend an Alc-Anon support meeting for alcohol-related offenders. At the community center, he joined a small group led informally by Reverend Lovejoy, where participants introduced themselves and shared brief experiences with alcohol: Ned Flanders spoke about years of sobriety, Otto joked about heavy drinking, and Hans Moleman said alcohol had ruined his life. Homer, however, made it clear he was only there because it was mandatory and showed little real interest, treating the meeting as a legal requirement rather than a personal recovery effort.[1]
