Song Information
|
"The Farmer and the Cowman" is a song sung by Bart and Milhouse.
History
Bart and Milhouse try to imitate a compromising scene from The O.C. in order to get Luann and Kirk Van Houten divorced, but they fail. Milhouse then recommends to use another film as a guide, in this case the musical Oklahoma!, and imagines him and Bart dancing to this song.
Lyrics
- Milhouse:
- Maybe we should use a different movie as our guide. Like Oklahoma!
- (Milhouse has a fantasy where Bart and Milhouse are dressed as characters from the musical)
- Bart and Milhouse:
- Oh, the farmer and the cowman should be friends,
- Oh, the farmer and the cowman should be friends.
- Milhouse:
- One man likes to push a plow...
- Bart:
- The one likes to chase a cow...
- Bart and Milhouse:
- But that's no reason why they cain't be friends.
- (both shoot pistols)
- Milhouse:
- Whadaya think, Bart? A hoedown could solve all our problems.
- Bart:
- I thought I told you, no Rodgers and Hammerstein!
- Milhouse:
- Rodgers and Hart?
- Bart:
- No!
Behind the Laughter
Oklahoma! is a musical written by the duo Rodgers and Hammerstein. Milhouse confuses Rodgers and Hammerstein with Rodgers and Hart, another duo of Broadway.
