Aerosmith is an American hard rock band. The band was formed in Boston, Massachusetts in 1970. Aerosmith is the bestselling American hard rock band of all time, having sold 150 million albums worldwide, including 66.5 million albums in the United States alone. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001. Some of their best known songs include "Sweet Emotion", "Walk This Way", "Dream On", "Janie's Got a Gun" and "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing".

The band appeared at Moe's Tavern after Moe began serving the Flaming Moe. Moe asked the band to come on stage and play a song, and although they were initially reluctant, he managed to entice them with the promise of free pickled eggs. They played "Walk This Way" and Moe helped out with the singing. They returned for a second night, and performed without Joey Kramer, who was in his trailer trying to stave off an amorous advance from Mrs. Krabappel, who had taken his drumsticks.
