The 2009 North America solar eclipse is a total solar eclipse that occured in the center of North America, passing over Washington, D.C. and Springfield. The solar eclipse has known to have at least one casualty.
History
Before the solar eclipse, Kent Brockman aired a report ("Sky-o-rama") on Channel 6 News, which ended with him leaving the studio over not having his eclipse-viewing object pre-made. When the Simpson family were viewing the eclipse with their eclipse-viewing objects, Homer's 'space toy' got crushed when Bart jumped onto the dog's kennel, and Homer jumped on as well, with Bart throwing him off. Marge then gave Homer her eclipse-viewing object, as there will be another eclipse over Yemen 10 years later. The family made Marge feel left out, saying that they will talk about the eclipse for years. Marge then decided to look at the eclipse with the naked eye, remarking that it is beautiful, before the sun peaked from behind the moon, straining Marge's eyes. Marge had to wear a bandage over her eyes for two weeks.
