The "monster from space".

A spacecraft has been attacked by some sort of force ray and everyone starts choking because of the "space air flooding in". The captain then tells the crew to put their goggles on, which makes them breathe normally. The captain lights a cigarette, then looks through the periscope and finds they're on a collision course with a "monster from space", which is actually a dog in a spacesuit.

Reactions

Lisa was appalled about the monster from space being a dog in a spacesuit. Bart didn't mind and looked closely at the dog to determine which gender it was.

Behind the Laughter

• The Planet from Outer Space is a spoof of sci-fi movies in general from the 1930s to the 1950s, when science fiction movies were stereotypically known for bad acting and poor special effects.
