Tyranno-Vision was a giant video display system installed at the Springfield Air Show.
History
Tyranno-Vision was used during the Springfield Air Show to broadcast live footage of the aerial performances, allowing spectators to follow the demonstrations without having to watch the aircraft directly. Homer Simpson even remarked that the screen made it unnecessary to keep turning his head to follow the jets.
The system became central to the air show's crisis when Sideshow Bob secretly connected himself to the Tyranno-Vision broadcast feed after stealing a ten-megaton nuclear weapon. Interrupting the scheduled program, he appeared on every screen at the event and announced that he would detonate the bomb unless Springfield abolished television within two hours. The unexpected broadcast caused panic among the spectators and triggered the evacuation of the air show while military personnel searched for Bob. Before ending his transmission, he humorously acknowledged the irony of using television to denounce television.
