History

During the grand opening of Lard Lad Donuts, Homer Simpson stole the colossal donut displayed atop the restaurant's giant mascot, triggering a chain of events that led to a mysterious ionic disturbance bringing Springfield's giant advertising mascots to life. As the mascots rampaged through the city, the giant figure from Aladdin's Magic Carpets & Linoleum, riding a flying carpet, took part in the destruction across Springfield. After the city's residents stopped paying attention to the living advertisements, causing the mascots to lose their power and collapse, the flying carpet crashed into and destroyed the birthplace of Norman Vincent Peale before coming to rest.
