First Appearance: "Who Shot Mr. Burns? (Part One)"

The Oil Appreciation Day was a celebration organized by Springfield Elementary School after oil was discovered beneath the school grounds.

History

Principal Seymour Skinner promoted the event as the beginning of a prosperous new era for the school, while Lisa Simpson was selected to activate the new oil pump. However, the ceremony ended in disappointment when the well produced only a single drop of oil. A oil driller determined that the oil reservoir had already been tapped, and it was later revealed that Mr. Burns had diverted the oil through a slant-drilling operation connected to his own well.
