Xt'tapalatakettle's Day is a Bart Simpson's Treehouse of Horror comic story first printed in Bart Simpson's Treehouse of Horror #5.
Synopsis[edit]
- The dead rise when Homer eats the offerings to the god Xt'tapalatakettle.
Plot[edit]
Bart and Lisa are preparing their Halloween costumes to go trick-or-treating. Bart has three different costumes, a white ghost, a blue ghost, and a red ghost, which he plans to use to trick people into giving him triple the amount of candy. Lisa then shows her Lady Justice costume to Bart, which Bart mocks because of the blindfold. Shortly after this, the doorbell rings and a large group of Mexicans are at the door, wanting to leave offerings to Xt'tapalatakettle, the god the Olmec head is designed after. Marge takes the Mexicans to the basement so they can leave their offerings, with Ned Flanders following to talk about their religion.
Marge takes the kids trick-or-treating, leaving Homer to take care of any trick-or-treaters who come to the house. After they leave, Homer quickly starts gobbling up the candy. Meanwhile, Bart gets to the first house on his rounds. He uses all three costumes to get three times the amount of candy from a neighbor, only to find that she handed out healthy food instead. Suddenly, people start screaming and Chief Wiggum begins getting calls about the dead rising. Soon, Springfield is overrun with zombies.
Suddenly, Marge and the kids hear a loud burp come from the house. They rush home to find that Homer has eaten all the offerings for Xt'tapalatakettle, which is what caused the zombies to rise. While Homer goes to sleep to recover from his food coma, the rest of the family go to the Kwik-E-Mart to get food and supplies to leave as offerings again. Apu goes back to the house with them and they decorate the Olmec head with Kwik-E-Mart junk food, which is enough to appease Xt'tapalatakettle. The zombies head back to their graves and soon the town is zombie-free.
The next morning, Homer wakes up hungry again. He eats the new offerings and lets out a large burp once more. The zombies then rise from their graves again.
