Simpson & Son Traveling Medicine Show
Simpson & Son Traveling Medicine Show was a short-lived act by Homer Simpson and his father, Abraham Simpson, to market and sell a homemade aphrodisiac known as Simpson & Son Revitalizing Tonic.
History
The tonic was produced in large quantities at the Springfield Retirement Castle, where Abe mixed the concoction in a bathtub before it was bottled and distributed for sale. The pair initially sold the product at the Springfield Mall, where Abe's energetic salesmanship and elaborate promotional speeches attracted large crowds. Following the tonic's local success, Homer and Abe expanded the operation into a traveling medicine show, visiting nearby towns and marketing the product through live demonstrations and exaggerated advertising claims.
However, the partnership deteriorated after Homer and Abe argued during their sales tour and temporarily separated. Abe later attempted to continue the medicine show alone, using Barney as a substitute assistant, but the venture quickly declined.
