Comic Story information
|
Turning Comics into Movies is a comic story first printed in Bart Simpson's Joke Book.
Synopsis[edit]
- Troy McClure shows the reader how the producer gets comics heroes from the comic books onto the screen.
Plot[edit]
Troy McClure introduces himself and says that people might remember him from such superhero films as The Pulverizer and Radioactive Man II: Bring On the Sequel. He tells the readers that he is going to show them how Hollywood studios bring comic book heroes to the big screen. First, they cast an actor with enormous box office potential in the leading role. However, busy schedules can prevent an actor from getting to the gym as often as the average superhero, so they use lots of cheap plastic body armor and a really talented lighting technician. The next thing they do is change the hero's origin, costume, powers, and supporting characters until they bear little resemblance to the way they are portrayed in the original comics. The studio can then reap its share of the profits from the film's merchandise.
The next issue is about dissatisfied comic book fans, whom Troy calls a great source of publicity.
