Johnny Tremain is an historical fiction book.
History
After Bart is expelled from school, his mother, Marge, decides to homeschool him. For one of his assignments, Marge gives Bart Johnny Tremain to read, a book she loved as a little girl. Bart becomes interested in the story when he learns that the protagonist was deformed from a war injury. He starts taking his studies seriously, even skipping an episode of The Itchy & Scratchy Show to continue reading. Seeing his enthusiasm, Marge takes Bart on a "field trip" to Olde Springfield Towne.
