Simpson/Sideshow Sibling Smackdown is a Simpsons Comics story first printed in Simpsons Comics #71.
Synopsis[edit]
- "Tired of always being in Sideshow Bob's shadow, Cecil Terwilliger sets out to destroy Lisa Simpson."
Plot[edit]
At Springfield Elementary School, the kids are fleeing whilst Lisa thinks about what a wonderful day it is. Lisa then gets splashed by the school bus as it went through a puddle. All the kids laugh at Lisa as they get on the bus. With everyone saying hi to Bart, a new kid asks who Bart is. After Martin explains who he is, Lisa tells the new kid about herself, and Martin points out that she's Bart's sister. The new kid then says that it must be great having such a cool brother. At Springfield Penitentiary, Cecil Terwilliger is accidentally drenched with water by Eddie, who was testing out the riot hose. As Sideshow Bob walks through the yard, all the prisoners greet him. When a new prisoner asks who Bob is, Snake explains that he's a homicidal genius. When Cecil tries to introduce himself, Snake points out that he's Bob's brother. Shortly after, Bob's monthly parole hearing is ready to happen. Cecil questions why he never gets a parole hearing and Chief Wiggum realizes that Cecil was never processed as a prisoner, so he was free to go. After leaving prison, Cecil finds himself a new hideout, taking over Doctor Colossus' old one since he didn't pay his rent on time.
During dinner, Lisa tries to talk about her music but is ignored by the family, who are waiting for Bart to talk. Bart then apologizes for getting Agnes Skinner arrested for crimes against humanity and the family talks about that rather than listening to Lisa. Lisa then storms off to her room. Meanwhile, Cecil is trying to figure out a plan to get out from his brother's shadow. After briefly considering killing Bart Simpson, Cecil decides to destroy Lisa instead. The next week, a death threat arrives at the Simpson house. Despite Bart thinking it was for him, it turns out to be directed at Lisa instead. Marge calls the police and Chief Wiggum confirms that Bob's still in prison. When the kids get to school, Lisa finds out that music class has been eliminated due to budget cuts, and when she confronts Principal Skinner, he confiscates her saxophone from her.
Lisa's life gets continually worse when she finds out that Comic Book Guy now owns the Springfield Public Library and is replacing all the books with graphic novels, and when The Krusty the Clown Show replaces The Itchy & Scratchy Show with a British comedy instead. After Marge calls the police to once again confirm that Bob is still in prison, the radio announces that Lisa's school is now permanently closed. Later that night, Lisa goes through Bart's previous death threats and finds out that the handwriting on the letters is similar to the ones from Sideshow Bob, but is slightly different. After Bart reveals that he's put Lisa's secrets and the things she cares about online, a wrecking ball comes through the wall. Bart and Lisa then decide to do something about the attacks against her.
Bart and Lisa go to Benjamin, Doug, and Gary and have them trace down the IP address of the person who accessed Bart's website. They find that it leads to 125 Hideout Road, and when they're spying on it, Cecil captures them. Cecil then explains his plan and how he orchestrated everything. He got onto the school board and quickly took charge as everyone else was bored and then got the school to ban music and eventually close. He then repeated this with the library committee to get Comic Book Guy ownership of the library. Finally, he got Benjamin, Doug, and Gary to blackmail Krusty to get The Itchy & Scratchy Show off the air. When he's then questioned about the wrecking balls, Cecil says that wasn't him. It turns out that Homer had annoyed the Construction Workers' Union by eating their lunches.
Cecil plans on lowering Bart and Lisa into liquid nitrogen to turn them into frozen trophies. As he gets ready to do so, the police break in to arrest Cecil. Cecil realizes that they called the police before he captured them and they were just stalling for time until they got to the hideout. Lisa and Cecil then bond over being arch-enemies and Cecil is taken back to prison. When back in prison, Cecil is taken to solitary and is happy over being considered the worst Terwilliger, whilst Lisa falls asleep next to her first death threat note.
