Homer's colonoscopy is performed at the Mayo Clinic, which is famous for its research, educational programs and treatment of difficult cases.
When the assistant uncovers Homer's posterior, the doctor waxes euphoric, comparing it to the Sistine Chapel and to Moby Dick.
While performing the colonoscopy, the doctor finds a CD of the Beatles album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.
When Homer wakes up, he sings the "Hallelujah Chorus" from Handel's Messiah.
