Cultural references
- The name of the comic is most likely a reference to Hail to the Chief.
- Bart references the 1964 film Mothra vs. Godzilla, although he says it as "Godzilla vs. Mothra" (which was the title of a different later film).
- The part where Homer says "That larva's one bad moth-" with Marge replying "Shut your mouth!" could possibly be a reference to the cult movie "Shaft".
Trivia
- The story originally appeared in "The Simpsons Futurama Crossover Crisis" where the Planet Express crew were transported into the comic by the evil Brain Spawn. The plot was changed as a result.
Goofs
- When the British close in on the Springfieldians cowering in town square, David Beckham has Arnold Rimmer's colors.
- Bart makes three mistakes when referencing the 1964 film "Mothra vs. Godzilla".
- He says the title is "Godzilla vs. Mothra" when it should be the other way round.
- He says that Mothra attacked Tokyo city hall, however no such scene happened.
- A similar scene occurred in the 1992 film Godzilla vs. Mothra, but not the 1964 film.
- Finally, he calls Mothra "he" even though the Mothra from that film was female.
