Dear User, I recently received a message from simpsonspedia saying, "please say your guys, that they shouldn't steal grabpics from simpsonspedia.net!". Now besides from the bad grammar and sentence structure, I guess this simpsonspedia is a German knock off of Wikisimpsons. I really don’t care where you get the pictures, but if you ever uploaded them from there just try to stay away from this website from now on. Basel17 20:56, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

Hello

Hi, my name is Brian and I'm a new bureaucrat here. I am a regular at the normal English Wikipedia and I had noticed that this site needed another active administrator and offered my services. To my surprise, not only did the Wikia people agree but they also made me a bureaucrat. So, I figured I'd introduce myself and if you have any questions, feel free to ask. -- Brian McClure 06:09, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

Writers

Hi, if you're going to create pages for the writers, could you please use the real episode names rather than the production codes? -- Brian McClure 18:55, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

OkKingcjc 19:35, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

Could you also try to avoid intentionally linking to redirects? Generally you should always try to link directly to the article. -- Brian McClure 21:19, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
oh thats from wikipedia Kingcjc 16:51, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

Copying things from Wikipedia

I would prefer that people not copy things word for word from Wikipedia but for now we need to build the wiki as much as possible, and using things from Wikipedia as a building block is a good start. In the long run, I would like to see this wiki have a lot more original content, because we don't want to just look like Wikipedia. As such, I ask that in the future you try the following:

  1. Try and write an original lead. Wikipedia is done from an out of universe perspective, whereas this in-universe. So, Wikipedia's article about Flanders starts out "Ned Flanders is a fictional character in the American animated series The Simpsons". These articles do not need such introductions, so "Ned Flanders is the Simpsons religious next door neighbor is fine" is how it would start here. In other words, things like "The American animated series The Simpsons" and the like should not be in the leads.
  2. Please try and copy merged/redirected/old things as much as possible. A lot of episode pages here aren't even stubs, but a good way to expand them quickly is to use old versions from pre-March 2007, like this because they contain trivia and cultural references sections, which are of more use here than production sections. As well, it doesn't look like it was copied.
  3. If you copy things, remove all redlinks that will never have pages. Again, having a lot of redlinks screams "word for word Wikipedia copy" but if remove them, the articles look that much better.

So in the future, please try to remember those items. Thanks, Brian McClure 00:06, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

Episode Appearances

Hey i don't mean to be a jerk bu could you please not edit the episode appearances sections? I'm doing a very thorough sweep of all the episodes and I don't want to get confused, thanks Uncle Tyrone 19:59, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Its a free wiki Kingcjc 20:00, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

I know but there is so much other stuff that needs to be done in it Uncle Tyrone 20:02, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

but surely i can edit whatever i want, also im editing GAME AND COMIC APPEARANCES Kingcjc 21:01, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Adminship

I've noticed that you have been one of the most active users here as of late, so I was wondering if you were interested in being given administrator powers. I will be going away for 2 weeks starting on June 28, so somebody will have to check in on a daily basis and make sure the IPs aren't destroying the place. -- Brian McClure 20:38, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

Sure that would be great. Also have fun on them two weeks Kingcjc 20:43, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
Done. Use your powers wisely. -- Brian McClure 00:43, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
That's fine! I was just checking! By the way, can you fix up the redirects and page name of Pappa's Got a Brand New Badge? The correct title is definitly Papa's Got a Brand New Badge. I tried to move it but because the correct title is a redirect it won't work. Thanks. Gran2 20:02, 30 June 2008 (UTC)

Response

this page explains everything. For covers, use {{image fairuse cover}}, for everything else from comic books, use {{image fairuse interior art}}. -- Brian McClure 22:04, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

thanks

Main Page Transition

Hi King!

I originally left this message for Brian McLure, but have yet to hear back from him. Seeing as you're a pretty active admin on here at the moment, the message goes on to you. :)

My name is Nathan and I'm a wikia helper with the entertainment team. We're going around helping wikis transition to the new style of main page that will be necessary to support the upcoming ads. I've created a draft of an idea for your main page in order to show the basic layout. Optimally, we'd like to get all main pages rolled over to the format as soon as possible, so feel free to use mine, or improve upon it. If you have any questions you can reach me via my talk page.

Thanks!

Re:mai page

The reason I undid your changes is because it looked really off balance. The same stuff has been there for a while, but we don't have any featured content that deserves to be featured right now, so there's no need to change it constantly. --

Simpsons Comics #149

'#' is a special character meaning 'Section', so when you put "Simpsons Comics #149" into a link, it thinks you're making a link to page Simpsons Comics, section 149. It's common for all wikis, and most places get around it by using a title like 'Simpsons Comics issue 149' or 'Simpsons Comics number 149'.

Cool, hope you got it down now. :)

Uploads

That's no problem, you can ask any time. The uploads are a problem at the moment, but they're being worked on and should soon be fixed. I'd try off and on today, maybe wait till tomorrow and see if it's better. If you still can't do it after 24 hours or so, message me again, and I'll see if there's an update. :)

You're no bother, that's what helpers are for. ;)
