Cultural references
- The episode title is probably a reference to the Sherlock Holmes novel and film The Seven-Per-Cent Solution.
- Krusty states that the references in the Itchy & Scratchy cartoons are over a year old and that they take a year to animate so seem outdated. The references are:

Goofs
- Princess Kashmir has black skin and brown hair in one scene.
- In one scene where Bart has his legs crossed and is sitting on the floor at the Simpsons' house, his shoes are missing (as in not been added to the frame).
- In the first Itchy and Scratchy cartoon in the beginning, when Hitler squashed Scratchy with a steam roller, look closely, and Scratchy has three eyes.
