Cultural references
- The episode's plot and title are a parody of the Netflix series Ripley, which is based on the 1955 crime novel The Talented Mr. Ripley. Many references to the series are seen throughout the episode.
- The painting of Groundskeeper Willie is a parody of the Vincent van Gogh painting Self-Portrait with Grey Felt Hat.
- When Marge sees where Seymour lives, she exclaims "Great Gatsby!", a reference to the novel The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald.
- Seymour took Homer and Marge to see a Caravaggio painting. This painting is a parody of The Entombment of Christ.
