The Scarlet Tanager is a medium-sized American songbird and is classified as being in the cardinal family.

While being tracked by his family by means of a chip, Bart tied it to a Scarlet Tanager's leg. The Simpson family followed it to Machu Picchu, thinking it was Bart.
