History
Following Homer Simpson's return from space, Bart Simpson tossed a marker into the air. The marker was then depicted as a FOX communications satellite orbiting Earth. As it drifted through space, the satellite collided with a glass sphere containing an infant version of Homer, who responded with a "D'oh".[1]
During a period of unusually bright nighttime illumination in Springfield, Lisa Simpson complained that the excessive artificial lighting prevented residents from observing the stars. While discussing the effects of light pollution with Bart Simpson, she remarked that the only object still visible in the night sky was the FOX satellite, highlighting how the city's bright lights had obscured nearly all other celestial bodies.[2]
Non-canon
