The Redbrick Car is a vehicle in The Simpsons Road Rage and The Simpsons: Hit & Run which is playable with the use of cheat codes. As the name suggests, it is simply a vehicle which is a red colored brick.
In The Simpsons Road Rage, it consists entirely of a plain red block with colored wheels. If the cheat code is entered, then in the next stage it will be the player character's car. It uses Homer's voice, although he is not actually seen in the car. Another cheat code, which allows the player to drive Burns' limo as Smithers, will cause Mr. Burns to instead ride in the back of a red brick car.
In The Simpsons: Hit & Run, the car has more components, including a steering wheel, an engine with a pumping animation and headlights. When the cheat code is entered, the redbrick car will replace the level's hidden vehicle (eg. the Rocket Car in Level 1). Another cheat code will make it a selectable vehicle in the phone booths.
Behind the Laughter
- Cary Brisebois, the lead programmer of The Simpsons: Hit & Run, stated in an interview that the car was created for testing. Presumably this was also the case in The Simpsons Road Rage.
