The Simpsons Comic Strips

* The Simpsons Comic Strips - were comic strips that ran in the UK newspaper The Times from January 1999 and soon in several United States newspapers. The comics strips ranged from short stories to fake ads, from movie poster parodies to school survival techniques, Simpsons-style horoscopes and a placemat from a Krusty Burger restaurant. The comic strips were created years before their publication in newspapers, and it seems most likely that these comic strips were planned to appear in issues of Simpsons Comics. Several strips were planned to be released in The Simpsons Comic Strip Cavalcade, to be released in June 2004, before the strips stopped running in newspapers, but the book was never released. 80 comic strips are known to have run in newspapers, with some known to have run in UK issues of Simpsons Comics, one being The Unpossible World of Ralph Wiggumbetween January 2011 and December 2011.

Comic Series Information
First published: February 24, 1997
Publisher: Bongo Comics Group
Titan Magazines
Country: United Kingdom
Number of issues: 240+

Simpsons Comics in the UK have been published by Titan Magazines since February 24, 1997. They are mostly the same as the American releases, the main differences being:

  • Issues are released approximately a year behind the USA release.
  • Comic page sizes are larger, approximately A4 in size. ((Size H)New Size 2000AD)
  • Cover designs are slightly different, the most notable difference being a left hand side panel giving a preview of what's inside the comic.
    • Some issues have different title captions to the US equivalents.
  • Bart Simpson's Treehouse of Horror, Bartman, Itchy & Scratchy Comics, Krusty Comics, Lisa Comics, Radioactive Man, Simpsons Comics and Stories, The Simpsons Winter Wingding 1 and The Simpsons Winter Wingding 2 comics are included in this run instead of as different series.
    • This means the UK issue numbers are different to their American counterparts (e.g. The American #80 is the equivalent to the UK #90).
  • Many of the shorter stories are mixed up from the American version while the main stories are more consistent with the original releases.
  • Junk Mail is completely separate to the American version, instead including letters and drawings from British readers.
  • Some issues have free gifts. Since #121, every single issue has come with a gift.
  • 13 issues are published every year (once every four weeks).
  • A lot more words in the UK version are censored.
