History

The Nigerian scam was apparently invented in Springfield. Moe is seen writing one of these emails and pretending to be from the city of Lagos, Nigeria.^[1]

Trivia

In Nigeria, pushing your palm outward with your fingers spread is considered a vulgar gesture.^[2]
