• During their radio program Bart asks Nelson how school was. Nelson replies that it was a lot like a Kevin Costner movie: "long, serious, and full of old people who say boring things."

Trivia

• Bart and Nelson find out that Barlow had actually been a liberal, free-thinking, "hippy" during his years at Springfield University, although he never explains to the boys why he changed to an "ultraconservative".
