• One of the things Homer forgets is that Adam Baldwin is not part of the Baldwin brothers.
• When Bart and Lisa find out there was a giant jellybean in the jar, he says that they got M. Night Shyamalaned.
• Homer asks Lisa if she'll be his Karl Rove. Rove served as the senior adviser to President George W. Bush.
• When Skip Tarrington tells Homer he needs an image change, Homer asks, "Like by switching faces with John Travolta?", a reference to the film Face/Off.
• As Homeowner Association president, Homer bans flags with Garfield and Snoopy on them.
• The Harlem Globetrotters watch Homer burn Ned's cross and show up as part of the angry mob.
