Jumbo-Vision is a giant stadium video display system.
History[edit]
During the Springfield Isotopes game at Springfield War Memorial Stadium, Homer Simpson was shown on the stadium’s Jumbo-Vision, the large electronic screen used to entertain the crowd. While appearing on the display, Homer realized that his pants zipper was open, causing him embarrassment in front of the spectators. The incident became one of the moments that encouraged Homer to embrace his role as a public entertainer, eventually leading to his career as the team’s mascot, "Dancin' Homer."[1]
Behind the Laughter[edit]
The Jumbo-Vision is a parody of the real-life Jumbotron screens installed in many sports stadiums during the 1980s and 1990s, which displayed live images of fans, advertisements, and game information.
