Springfield Town Charter.png

The Springfield Town Charter is the legal document establishing the town of Springfield, signed by Jebediah Springfield.

History[edit]

To address the issue of the Springfield Monorail being out of control, Mayor Quimby and Chief Wiggum argued over who was in charge. They went to town hall to resolve the constitutional crisis and read the city charter. According to the charter, as town constable, Wiggum was entitled to receive a pig every month, as well as "two comely lasses of virtue true." Quimby took a closer look and said, "Hey, how many broads do I get?" The two then argued over the charter as the monorail zipped past.[1]

According to Homer, the town charter states: “If foodstuff should touch the ground, said foodstuff shall be turned over to the village idiot.”[2]
