Cultural references[edit]
- The title of the episode is a reference to the opening line of Richard III, "Now is the winter of our discontent" by William Shakespeare, and monetization of website content, often by YouTube.
- Season 25's episode "The Winter of His Content" also referenced the play, and the title of the episode is a reference to that too.
- When Skinner says he is sending Lisa to "The Rock" for detention, it sounds like he is sending her to Alcatraz (also known as "The Rock"), but he has in mind the R.O.C.C..
- Anger Watkins talks about who is better, LeBron James, Kobe Bryant or Michael Jordan. It's a reference to the entr'acte between Kobe Bryant, Cara Delevigne and James Corden at the March 28, 2019 episode of The Late Late Show with James Corden.
